Imperial War Museum
24 April 2016
As part of our ‘Life in the 1940s’ topic we visited the Imperial War Museum on Wednesday. The children viewed the Lee Millar – A Woman’s War exhibition and thoroughly enjoyed it. Whilst there the project was to describe three photographs that interested them, from three different countries and three different years. We were astounded by how much they enjoyed the experience and how much they got from it. There was something to interest each of them and even though we have only just started the topic they were totally immersed in the 1940s.
We moved on to the Family in Wartime exhibit and wondered how we would all cope without a tumble dryer, microwave and central heating. They had lots of questions including the inevitable – ‘Were you alive then Miss?’
Well worth the visit especially as the sun shone, we can’t wait to go back.
