A visit from Mike Freer during our school elections
12 March 2016
As part of our ‘Britain’ topic the children devised their own political parties with manifestos, slogans and logos. We were amazed by the issues that the children felt passionate about including plastic carrier bags; recycling and litter; local parking and cigarette smoking. They were also passionate about help for dyslexia and dyspraxia.
Our local MP Mike Freer visited the school and the children were able to ask him about him role. The two parties canvassed him and he voted for one of the parties – a secret ballot of course! Staff and part-time pupils voted afterwards and the votes were counted. The result was a hung parliament!
The winner was definitely Mike Freer as the children viewed him with some adoration.
